1990-93 - KRXQ/SacramentoMediaPictures
In order to advance my career in personality driven radio, I took a back seat to a bunch of DJ's, and filled in for them occasionally while doing a talk show on the weekend. Most of them had all the trappings of rock stars, but were in reality tame as hell on the air. No balls, nothing. I was pretty clean cut in appearance, but was more radical and raucous on the air than any of the "rock jocks". The funny thing was, a number of them treated me like a freak because I talked about things going on in the world, not just things going on at the concert arena. A little frustrating, but irrelevant since my sole intention was to create and develop a show starring ME and my mouth, regardless of the music format. I did a lot of good shows there, prompting calls from PD's in San Diego, New York, Pittsburgh and Detroit. Not bad for a dopey weekend show. The program director at 93 Rock, Judy McNutt, was extremely supportive at a critical turning point in the direction of my career. KRXQ
